Lake Blue Ridge Record White Bass

Hannah Housworth | March 22, 2008

Jesse McKeral

The white bass population has declined rapidly at Lake Blue Ridge since the illegal introduction of blueback herring, but there are still a few left in the lake. A decade ago, there were some trophy white bass in Blue Ridge, including the largest ever recorded from Blue Ridge that was caught in 2008.

Jesse Mckeral, of Blairsville, was casting a Shad Rap to the bank around midnight on March 22, 2008 trying to catch a walleye when this bulging fat white bass hit. The fish was certified at 3-lbs., 6.72-ozs.
