GON just gave away another 4x4 Chevy pickup truck to a deer hunter. Who wouldn’t love a new truck?

Or for that matter, who wouldn’t love a new a Beast hunting vehicle, or a Browning rifle or Mathews bow?

Will Altman Wins GON’s Youth Shoot-Out
Will Altman, 12, of Statesboro, wasted little time going to Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna with $3,000 in his pocket. Will was enjoying his big shopping spree less than 24 hours after winning GON’s Youth Big-Buck Contest Shoot-Out on July 24 at GON’s Outdoor Blast at the Gwinnett Center.

For winning the Youth Shoot-Out, Will also won an additional grand prize—a dream deer and hog hunting trip with Woods-N-Water in Wrightsville. In addition to some quality father-and-son stand time, Will and his dad will be staying at a remote and quiet lodge, will be well fed, and they get to fish during the middle of the day.

“Will had the time of his life spending his winnings at Adventure Outdoors. What a dream experience. Christmas came early!” said Amy Altman, Will’s mom. “He is also looking forward to another dream experience with Woods-N-Water Hunting and Fishing Adventures when he gets to spend a weekend in the woods doing...

There was a time, not too long ago, when archery practice consisted of a couple of square bales of straw and...

Fishing
Redfin Pike: A Return To Creek Fishin’ Roots
Redfin pickerel, or the redfin pike as the ol’ timers call them—do they still exist? Or, are they simply forgotten? Have most of the small flowing waters they once flourished in long ago silted in and quit flowing? I’ve fished all over Georgia from trout up high to jackfish in the Okefenokee, and until recently I had yet to snag one.

I can’t recall how many...

GON's Tracking Dogs & Deer Coolers Lists
Here's GON's 2014-2015 Dial-a-Tracking Dog and Deer Coolers lists. Some folks have dropped off the lists this year, but there are some new faces, as well. If you have a deer down, these lists should provide everything you need to find it and get it to a cooler for storage or processing.

To add a dog or processor to either list, call GON at (800) 438-4663.
