Change Gears For Better Deer Hunting
It was one of those mornings where I did not need an alarm clock. I had a great stand location picked out and was eager to slip into the thicket undetected. My goal was to hunt the new stand location I had discovered and shoot the mature buck that would be passing less than 10 yards from the tree I had chosen. My visions of grandeur quickly changed into a mirage when I checked the wind direction. It was from the northeast, and I did not want to...

Creating Those Special Opening Weekend Memories
The weather for Georgia’s 2009 deer season was predicted to be perfect not only for hunting but for camping. And when I say camping, I mean in a tent with no running water and no electricity for the weekend.

I am a firm believer that it only...

A Three-Way Plan To Catch Georgia’s Coastal Reds
October is one of the best periods of the year for redfish along the Georgia coast. According to Spud Woodward, the director of the Coastal Resources Division of the Georgia DNR, the life cycle of the red drum provides three varied angling opportunities during the fall.

“There are three distinct populations of redfish in the area around the Golden Isles during October,”...

GON's Tracking Dogs & Deer Coolers Lists
Here's GON's 2014-2015 Dial-a-Tracking Dog and Deer Coolers lists. Some folks have dropped off the lists this year, but there are some new faces, as well. If you have a deer down, these lists should provide everything you need to find it and get it to a cooler for storage or processing.

To add a dog or processor to either list, call GON at (800) 438-4663.
