Hunt Story

With the rut happening in my corner of Georgia I got in the stand relatively early that afternoon. I saw a small 7-point at about 3 p.m. and hadn't seen anything since. By 4:45 I was beginning to get bored and decided to hit my rattling horns. After doing this I began to wonder why I even rattle because it very rarely works for me, and about 15 seconds later I hear walking and here comes the 7-point I had seen earlier and right behind him was a much larger buck. The 7-point came by at 15 yards and the larger buck was on the same trail. I drew my bow and I shot him when he stepped into a hole about 15 yards away. The buck took off and I could see I had hit him much further back than I wanted and a sickening feeling hit me. I decided to back out and give the deer sometime to expire, after a sleepless night I went back the next morning with the help Mr. Randy Vick and his dog Reba and we found the deer dead. I couldn't be more thankful to have an awesome uncle and cousins who have allowed me to hunt with them all my life.
