Hunt Story

I arrived at my stand a little before sunrise. Having been in my climber no more than 10 minutes, a large doe ran by me with her mouth open and her tongue hanging out. She had probably been chased most of the full moon night. My first thought was that a buck was close behind her. I said to myself, it's showtime! Looking to my right I spotted a large buck with a heavy mass rack 35 yards from my stand. He was stopped behind a small group of trees that prevented me from taking a shot. Three seconds later he continued again on the chase for the doe. He was now twenty five yards in front of me. His head down and his body was extended and as he ran taking quick steady steps. I put the cross hairs of my scope behind his shoulder as he passed. I fired. The buck gave no indication that my shot had hit him. From my vantage point I was prevented from making a second shot. I remained in my stand for 45 minutes because there were still does in my area and I felt that there might another opportunity for a buck. After leaving my stand, I found buck 40 yards away.
