Hunt Story

I had been seeing this particular buck, since June on my trail cam, and I had been watching him grow every day since. He had been coming into this particular area always in the early morning and typically right before dark. Two weeks before the season opened, his patterns completely changed, so I was worried I wouldn't get a chance at him. I decided to hold off on morning hunts so I didn't spook him going in. I hunted Sunday afternoon and didn't see a deer, partly because all the people around me were dove hunting. I tried again on Monday evening and saw several small bucks and a doe. I was notified by my trail cam on Wednesday evening he was back in the plot at 7:45 and stayed until dark. So I knew I had to get back in the stand on Thursday. I got into my stand at 6:20 p.m. At 7:40, I heard movement behind me and he had circled downwind of me and was slowly working his way into the plot. As he entered the food plot I drew and connected with him at a 15-yard broadside shot. I watched him run off into some thick pines, but I heard him crash. I waited approx 20 minutes and found him around 20-25 yards from my stand.
