Took off work and headed to Dooly County to hang out with Landon Cason. The plan was to catch up and hunt the remainder of the week. I arrived earlier than planned and Landon suggested to go climb in the stand for a quick hunt and it was exactly that. Settled in the stand around 4:40 and shortly after had several does step out and begin to feed. Before 5:30 I heard movement from behind the stand in the swamp. When I turned around I noticed it was a buck. By the time I grabbed my firearm and turned back around he was 30-35 steps from the back of the stand on a mission. I saw he had good tine length and looked to be mature so I pulled the trigger. After anxiously waiting two hours to give the deer plenty of time to expire and for Landon to get off the combine we headed to trail the deer. Sixty yards later we found my largest buck to date.
