Hunt Story

Saw him come by following a doe at 45 yards at 4 pm, but it was too thick for a shot. He was locked down on this doe—would not even respond to a grunt. He stayed within 20 yards of her for an hour while she grazed on some random acorns. I knew for me to get a shot that doe was gonna have to bring him by me. Probably got 150 to 200 yards from me, and for whatever reason, she started working my way. She came by at 20 yards in a wide open shooting lane, and of course he chooses the trail that's at 30 yards with hardly no shooting lanes. Picked out one gap between two trees. Had to squat down in my lock-on to clear some limbs, drew my bow... stopped him perfectly between the two trees with his vitals showing. Shot... Knew I touched off pretty low. He kicked and made a quick 10-yard sprint... stopped looked around and fell over. Died 40 yards from me. Stayed in the stand about 20 minutes, and then climbed down and got him.
