Hunt Story

Got off work late and finally made it to my climber at about 6:30 P.M. and was on in the stand for about 25 minutes before the buck walked out at about 75 yards. I watched him until I could not see him anymore and looked at my phone and it was 7:00 P.M. I knew I only had a couple minutes of shooting light left, and I looked back up and he was headed my way at about 25 yards. I stood up in my climber and drew back, and the deer stopped at 15 yards facing me. The deer put its head down, and the only shot I had was straight down through the top of his back. I let the arrow fly and I knew immediately that I had made a great shot, but the arrow did not make a complete pass. However, with no blood trail, it was going to be hard to trail the deer. I called Mr. Mike Lopez (idahomike on GON forums), and him and his dog Lucy made there way to Johnson County late that night, and within 45 minutes of taking Lucy to the spot of the shot, she had found the deer. As I walked up, I knew the deer had a good chance of being a Pope and Young.
