Youth Big-Buck Contest Results 2015-2016

Weekly winners in GON’s Youth Big-Buck Contest earn a spot in their own Shoot-Out for a $3,000 shopping spree and a deer and hog hunt.

GON Staff | March 25, 2016

One lucky young deer hunter from GON’s Youth Big-Buck Contest will win a $3,000 shopping spree at Adventure Outdoors, plus a weekend deer and wild-hog Dream Hunt with Woods-N-Water outfitters.

Imagine walking into a hunting store like Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna and having $3,000 to spend on anything you can dream of, and then being able to carry that new gear on a super deer and hog hunt with the Burley brothers and Woods-N-Water outfitters.

The highest-scoring buck by a youth each week of deer season earned a spot in a special Youth Shoot-Out that will be held at the Outdoor Blast on Friday, July 29 at the Infinite Energy Center (formerly Gwinnett Center). The best young shooter will win the shopping spree and hunt.

GON’s Youth Big-Buck Contest is a part of the Truck-Buck Contest. There was no separate entry process for the youth contest. All kids 15 and younger who were subscribers or dependents of GON subscribers could enter their bucks through the Truck-Buck contest. We automatically included all youth entries into the Youth Big-Buck Contest. Full Truck-Buck results can be found on page 84.

Walt Howell is the Week 10 winner in the Youth Big-Buck contest, and he will also be in the main Truck-Buck Shoot-Out. Walt’s Dodge County buck netted 148 4/8.

The contest uses official Boone & Crockett measurers and the B&C scoring method. All scores are official scores  and are listed as B&C net after deductions.

To compare typical versus non-typical racks, divide the net scores into the minimums for B&C all-time record books; 170 for typicals and 195 for non-typicals. The higher percentage is the higher-ranking buck.

Key: (b) bow-kill; (c) crossbow; (m) muzzleloader; (*) non-typical.
