Lake Russell Fishing Report December 2017

GON Staff | November 28, 2017

Russell: Level: 1 foot low. Temp: Low 60s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Jerry Kotal reports, “Fishing for bass is wide open right now on Lake Russell. The cooler weather has made them start biting really well. They’re biting pretty much all day any way you want to catch them. You can catch them halfway back into the creeks or in the backs of the creeks. They are biting crankbaits, spinnerbaits and some Carolina rigs off of some points and on the deeper banks. You can also catch them out deep on a drop shot around brush in the 25- to 30-foot range. We are catching anywhere from 30 to 60 fish a day, including some yellow and white perch. The worm for the drop shot that has been working the best for me is the watermelon finesse worm. And on the cloudy days, darker colors have been better.”
