Lake Eufaula Fishing Report August 2016

GON Staff | July 28, 2016

Eufaula: Level: 0.2 feet below 190 pool. Temp: 89-91 degrees. Clarity: Lightly stained.

Bass: Tournament angler David Lowery reports, “Fishing has been good. Try fishing shallow with a Spro Poppin Frog early, then move out to ledges in the late morning once the sun gets up. On ledges try a 5-inch Big Bite Suicide Shad swimbait. Also try a Big Bite B2 10-inch worm Texas-rigged on the ledges. Flipping fish are starting to bite, and punching matts and should get better in August. Try a Big Bite 5-inch Fighting Frog in green pumpkin or black-blue.” Guide Sam Williams reports, “The hot temperatures are making fishing conditions very tough. The early morning bite is over shortly after sunrise. The topwater bite is still on in the lily pad cover first thing. Frogs, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits do the trick. Crankbaits and Carolina rigs will work after the early bite slows if you find some active bass out on the main-lake ledges. Jigs will work as well. Everything needs to be worked really slow.”
