Hunt Story

On Sunday evening, I was in the stand waiting, with my Dad, for a deer to pop out. Out of the corner of my eye, at 5:15, two does and one button buck stepped out about 75 yards away in our food plot. I sat patiently and watched the deer feed. All of a sudden, I heard a crash, I saw a big buck chasing a doe. The other deer ran away, for they were frightened. The buck and the doe circled around our stand up a hill, where I could no longer see them. It was getting dark, as I waited for the buck and doe to step out again. As I waited, the doe stepped out again, but with a smaller buck chasing her. I was sure that wasn’t the same buck as before though. Then the buck that first stepped out, stepped out again in a clearing about twenty yards from our stand, he was looking for the doe. The buck was clueless that we were even there. I could tell that it was a pretty big buck. So, in a split second, I found the deer in my scope, lined my target up with the crosshairs. “Shoot” said my Dad. So I reached my finger out and pulled the trigger. The buck broke into a run back to where it came from. After the shot, two smaller bucks also came out looking for the doe. My Dad and me went back to our house so we could give the deer time to die and so we could get my dog to track the buck down. When we reached the deer, I fell to the ground to look at the antlers and the width of the neck. This was my biggest deer yet, so I was so pumped up about it, I didn’t even get buck fever till later after the shot. As far as I could tell, it was a shot straight through the lungs, I was so thrilled with my trophy.
