Hunt Story

We had gotten numerous trail-cam pictures of this buck over the over the last month on our family farm. I had a stand set up near the trail camera that I had hunted several times since the opening of bow season, however the wind was not good for that stand yesterday, so I decided to hunt a lock-on stand on the opposite side of the farm. From the lock on, I was overlooking a small oak/pine hill leading to the creek bottom on one side and a fire-break food plot on the other side. About 7 p.m. three bucks came in from downwind, naturally I was busted, and the bucks ran into the creek bottom. The larger of the three bucks made a loop and ran straight back to me, I was able to get him to stop long enough for a hurried 20-yard shot. As soon as I shot I knew I hit him a little far back, so I gave him about an hour and checked for blood. The arrow looked good, but there was very little blood on the ground. After trailing him for about a hundred yards with little blood, I decided to back out until this morning to keep from bumping him in case it was a liver or gut shot. We trailed him for about another 50 yards this morning before finding him.
