Hunt Story

After having our first child in July, I have not been able to hunt very often this season. Over the past few weeks, I was able to finally get a couple scouting cameras out. Earlier in the afternoon before my second hunt of the year, I checked one of my cameras. The camera had several pictures of this buck that I had never seen before and many were in the day time. My plan was to go in to the stand one morning the following week where I had gotten the pictures and hunt him. That day, I decided to hunt a lock on over a food plot mostly because of convenience. This also would allow me to come up with a plan to hunt this big buck over the next couple of days. Around 7:15 PM, I heard leaves crunching behind my stand. I quickly turned around and recognized that it was the deer from the camera pictures. The deer walked out in to the middle of the food plot and gave me a 25-yard quartering shot. At first, I thought the shot may be a little marginal, but lethal since he was quartering. I let him lay for about an hour to expire and went in with some friends to recover him. We found him only about 150 yards from where I had shot him.
