The newly crowned world record, hunter-taken non-typical whitetail buck, now known simply as the Tucker Buck, will be on display at the Outdoor Blast, the three-day hunting and outdoors show hosted by GON in Duluth on July 28-30.
The 47-point non-typical buck was harvested on Nov. 7, 2016 in Sumner County, Tennessee.
The world record deer was killed by Stephen Tucker, 26, of Gallatin, Tenn., who was hunting with a muzzleloader on private land. He missed his first shot at the giant due to a misfire. Then he saw it again that afternoon, but the giant buck was too far for an ethical shot. Two days later, the monster buck came within 40 yards, and Tucker connected.
The buck was estimated to be 4 1/2 years old. Its net score is 312 3/8 inches, placing it as the current No. 1 whitetail buck ever taken by a hunter. All that remains now is official certification by the Boone & Crockett Club at their 2019 conference. Two more B&C judges will score the buck again. Barring any changes, Stephen’s buck would replace the 307 5/8-inch non-typical world record killed by Tony Lovstuen in Albia, Iowa in 2003.
The buck will be on display at the J&S Scents booth, which will be located in the center atrium located between the two main vendor halls and near the entrance to the Jim & Nicks Bar-B-Q area and beverage garden.
