If you’ve been reading GON but haven’t yet taken that small, money-saving step of becoming a subscriber, now’s the time. Deer season is coming soon, and you don’t want to be one of those folks who—it happens every season—kill a buck but can’t enter the Truck-Buck contest because they’re not a GON member. Truck-Buck is for subscribers only, and it’s one heck of a deal.
Check out the prize package that will be given away during the 2012 Truck-Buck contest.
• A new Chevy Silverado pickup truck from John Megel Chevrolet.
• An ATV and trailer from Mountain Motorsports.
• 12 Browning X-Bolt Stainless Stalker rifles.
• 5 Mathews Heli bows.
• 42 one-of-a-kind personalized GON “Show Shirts” from Realtree.
• 17 HSS Pro Series harnesses from Hunter Safety System.
• 17 prize packages of scent products from Tinks.
• A .50 Caliber CVA Accura MR Muzzleloader.
Each week, the best buck entered from the Northern Zone and the best buck from the Southern Zone win great prizes and earn a spot in the Shoot-Out. Hunters can also make the Shoot-Out through four wildcard divisions: Youth, Ladies, Public Land and Runner-Up. Two hunters from each category will qualify — the largest for both the Northern and Southern zones.
Entering the Truck-Buck contest is simple. There are no check stations. Kill a buck, take good photos, and then follow the instructions and enter online at www.gon.com, or you can mail the entry form found on page 88.
$1,000 HSS Bonus
Make it a point to put on your Hunter Safety System (HSS) harness when you take your Truck-Buck entry photos. If you win a week or a wildcard spot in the Shoot-Out, and then go on to win the Truck-Buck Shoot-Out, HSS will add a $1,000 bonus to go along with your brand-new pickup truck.
Kids-Only Buck Contest
Kids 15 and under can win a dream hunt in the SEEDS Big-Buck Contest.
Once again, youth deer hunters in Georgia will have their very own weekly big-buck contest and Shoot-Out. The SEEDS Big-Buck Contest is back for kids 15 and under.
The grand prize is a deer and hog hunt with Woods-N-Water outfitters in Johnson County.
SEEDS is the youth program of the GONetwork, a non-profit sportsmen’s organization founded by Georgia Outdoor News magazine publisher Steve Burch.
Entering the 2012 SEEDS Big-Buck Contest is simple. Be 15 years of age or younger, and enter your buck in GON’s Truck-Buck contest. All youth 15 and under who enter Truck-Buck will also be entered in the SEEDS Big-Buck Contest.
The highest-scoring buck entered each week will earn the youth a Realtree shirt and a spot in the SEEDS Shoot-Out for a chance to win the dream hunting trip with Woods-N-Water.
