SEEDS Dove Shoot Puts 15 Kids Afield

GON Staff | October 1, 2008

Fifteen SEEDS members were drawn to hunt the annual David D. Willoughby Memorial Dove Shoot on Sept. 13.

A special day brought hosts Dave Willoughby and J.D. Shumpert, volunteers and 15 kids and their dads to a Walton County dove field on Sept. 13. The occasion was the annual David D. Willoughby Memorial SEEDS Dove Shoot, which honors a young man who passed away in 2007 whose passion for the dove field and compassion for bringing people together, especially kids, is remembered through the youth dove hunt.

SEEDS is the youth program of the GONetwork, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving hunting and fishing in Georgia. Fifteen SEEDS members were drawn for the hunt, one of numerous youth hunts provided through SEEDS. The day included a special presentation by The Snake Master, Steve Scruggs. Each youth also received a prize package including a dove bucket and shells, and Kenny Anglin owner of Kritter Getter Custom Game Calls gave each youth a squirrel call.

The Snake Master Steve Scruggs and his incredible program teaches kids not only about snakes, but also about conservation and the benefits of hunting.
