Lake Weiss Fishing Report October 2015

GON Staff | September 30, 2015

Weiss: Level: 1.3 feet below full pool. Temp: 73 degrees. Clarity: Some stain.

Bass: Good. Guide Mark Collins reports, “With the cooling trend, a lot of bass are starting to be caught shallow in 3 to 6 feet of water. Shallow-running crankbaits are working well, and the topwater bite is good early and late, also.”

Crappie: The crappie fishing is good. They are being caught on structure on the river channel ledges in 10 to 16 feet of water. Spider-rigging with live minnows over cover in 10 to 16 feet of water is producing some good fishing.

Striper: Fair. “They are being caught in the main lake on the old river channel ledges and in Little River and the lower Chattooga River. Use live shad downlined 8 to 12 feet deep, and also live shad fishing behind the boat on flatlines,” Mark reports.
