Lake Russell Fishing Report April 2018

GON Staff | March 28, 2018

Russell: Level: 0.4 feet low. Temp: Upper 50s. Clarity: Clear except for a slight stain in the creeks.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The constant weather changes have had the water temps all over the place this month, but the fishing has been good. There are a lot of fish being caught, and most of the bass are in prespawn and staging for the spawn. Primary and secondary points are holding lots of bass, and they can be caught on a variety of presentations, depending on the weather. As the water begins to warm back up this month, the majority of the fish will move shallow to spawn, so coves, pockets and creeks will begin to hold fish. This time of year several baits will catch fish; Texas rigs, Carolina rigs, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jigs, so use what you enjoy catching them on, and experiment with new ones.”
