Lake Nottely Fishing Report March 2017

GON Staff | March 1, 2017

Nottely: Level: 12.9 feet below full pool. Temp: 51-54 degrees. Clarity: Mostly clear.

Stripers: Guide Jeremy Seabolt reports, “Fishing has been good, and we have been catching some nice fish. We have been pulling large shad and herring in the mouths of the larger creeks and pulling large shad in river. The best fishing has been around Point 11 and Gray Creek. The fish have been feeding good, getting ready for the spring run. In March, we will start seeing the big fish show up more. I will still be fishing the mouths of the creeks all the way to the backs of the creeks, pulling big bait shallow. The fish on Nottely have been eating big baits, and all that’s eating small bait has been spotted bass, so bigger bait is the go-to choice for a chance of catching a striper. The bucktail and u-rig bite is still doing good during the mid morning by working the main-lake points. Also, in March I will be throwing Red Fins up against banks and points. You will have to play with them until you can figure out what they want from day to day. I do better twitching them like it’s a dying herring. Now is the time to catch big fish. But remember to practice catch-and-release on all fish over 20 pounds. Paradise Bait has all the big baits you need.”
