Lake Jackson Fishing Report May 2017

GON Staff | April 26, 2017

Jackson: Level: 0.8 feet below full pool.. Temp: Low 70s. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Look for largemouth to be back out on points and humps as the water continues to warm and the spawning season comes to a close. Those fish will hit Carolina rigs and big crankbaits. Fish double willowleaf spinnerbaits and shad-colored Shad Raps or Bandits around any rocky, main-lake areas early. Keep a lookout for any remaining shad spawning activity at daylight. After the first few hours of daylight, you can fish weightless worms, like a Senko, under docks and in blowdowns. Flipping lizards or jigs with Zoom Super Chunk trailers can find some big postspawn fish. Deep water close by will help with the bite.
