Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – October 2006

GON Staff | September 25, 2006

Eufaula: Level: 2.4 feet below full pool. Temp: 81 degrees. Clarity: Light stain.

Bass: Great. Butch Tucker said most of the bass have stayed shallow all year, but the bite will intensify as the water cools. “The frog bite will be good early in the grass,” said Butch. “Buzzbaits, spinnerbaits — they’ll be good, too. If the water comes back up, it could really get wild over there. Fish will move into that grass; right now they’re hanging on the edge.” When the sun is up try dragging a Texas-rigged lizard or Baby Brushog. Look from the causeway north, and Butch said to try the Old Creektown area where you’ll find some scattered grass. If the water rises, you’ll find some flooded willow bushes to fish with a jig or Paca Craw. “You’ll still have some fish on some eight- to 12-foot creek ledges,” said Butch. “Throw a crankbait, or I like a Carolina-rigged Trick Worm in green pumpkin or watermelon gold. A red shad Ol Monster is good.”
