Lake Chatuge Fishing Report December 2016

GON Staff | November 22, 2016

Chatuge: Level: 8.5 feet low. Temp: 61-63 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “Again the lake has only dropped about a foot since last month. The bite has been good. If there is any wind, I’m just running and gunning and throwing an umbrella rig or a Strike King spinnerbait. If it’s calm, I’m going to be throwing a 3.5-inch swimbait around rocks, points and docks. We have also been catching fish on jigs, drop shots and shaky heads in the same areas. Always keep a topwater lure tied on for those fish that come up breaking. I have seen them doing this on up in the day when it warms up some. The crankbait bite has been picking up, and the best color is anything in a shad pattern.”
