Lake Burton Fishing Report – March 2006

GON Staff | March 1, 2006

Burton: Level: 5.2 feet below full pool. Temp: 49-51 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Trout: The trout are still back in the creeks and pockets near the dam, said Nathan Lewis, but at lower numbers than late last fall. Most of the fish are in the nine- to 12-inch range, but there are a few bigger trout mixed in. Murray Cove has held fish all winter, he said. Any of the usual trout-fishing spinners and small crankbaits that you would use in a trout stream will work on the lake, too, he said. Try bright-colored Rooster Tails, Mepps Spinners or No. 3 or No. 5 Rapalas.
