Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report March 2018

GON Staff | March 6, 2018

Blue Ridge: Level: 10 feet low. Temp: 56-58 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “We have had a lot of rain the past month, the lake level has been rising, along with the water temps. I can’t recall seeing the water temps jump this fast in just a couple weeks. The fish are starting to move up. If it’s a sunny day, look for largemouth to be in the shallows and the backs of pockets. You can target these fish with a Strike King Rage Swimmer swimbait, Strike King 2.5 squarebill, A-rig, spinnerbait and a swim jig in a bluegill color. You can still catch some spotted bass on deep points and deep banks on a drop shot with a 4.5 Roboworm, shaky head and a tube bait. You will start seeing more fish starting to move up near the spawning flats and rocky points. Target these fish with jerkbaits, swimbaits, Strike King 3xd crankbait and tube baits. We are still going to have some cold snaps in March, so if the water temps drop some, remember the fish that were shallow are going to move back out a little and toward the mouth of the pockets.”
