Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report October 2016

GON Staff | September 28, 2016

Blue Ridge: Level: 12 feet low. Temp: 80-82 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “Due to the lack of rain and TVA pulling the lake to provide water for Ocoee rafting over Labor Day weekend, Blue Ridge Lake is below its normal pool for October. This is a good thing for us fall and winter fishermen. This means the lake will be at its winter pool earlier this year. The topwater bite is getting better every day. I’m throwing a Strike King Sexy Dog and a Rebel Pop-R off points and flats. When you find fish on the flats, you can also catch them on tube baits, jigs and swimbaits. It’s also hard to beat a Rapala No. 5 Shad Rap this time of year on Blue Ridge. If you like throwing a shaky head or drop shot, you should target points and ditches on the main body and around Lakewood. If you’re fishing up river, target the steep, rocky banks and river bends.”
