Bartletts Ferry Fishing Report – September 2009

GON Staff | August 25, 2009

Bartletts Ferry: Level: 0.5 feet below full pool. Temp: Mid 80s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Tough. Dennis Hudson said the best bite is on shaky-head worms on brushpiles in 8 to 15 feet of water. Look for brush around secondary points and boat docks. A Net Boy Baits worm in Bama bug or summer craw has been working pretty well. In the mornings, there has been a decent topwater bite around grass in the backs of the creeks. The small fish hanging under the bridges are still there feeding on very small shad if there is a little bit of moving water. If you catch conditions right, you can fill a limit pretty quick, but they’re small fish. These fish can be caught on a shaky head, and they’ll also hit topwater. Dennis likes to fish a Sassy Shad crappie jig rigged behind a Pop-R for this topwater bite. Late in September, Dennis said to look for the schooling activity to pick up all over the lake.
