The largest turn-out of duck callers in the history of Georgia’s state calling championships showed up in Macon at GON’s Outdoor Blast. The 2010 event attracted 27 callers from five states.

Up for grabs were state-championship titles in the Georgia State Duck Calling Contest, which sends a Georgia caller to the World’s Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Ark., the Georgia State Meat Contest and the Georgia State Two-Man contest.

The 2010 Georgia State Duck Calling Contest champ is Clint Shipman, of Byron, who also won the title in 2008.

Keith Allen, of Scott City, Mo., and Robbie Lashley, of Andersonville, won the Two-Man championship.

After a second-place finish in the Georgia State contest in 2009, the 2008 champ, Clint Shipman, of Byron, is heading back to Stuttgart after winning the title again. Clint survived a tie-breaking fourth round of calling to edge Chad Kenway, of Zebulon. Incredibly, after three rounds, Clint and Chad were tied with scores of 777. Then Clint squeaked 295 to 293 in the call-off round. Third-place went to Nathaniel Keith, of Grayson, while Jacob Fortner, of Lawrenceville, placed fourth.

The 2010 Georgia State Meat champ was Kevin Gilreath, of Titusville, Fla. Zach Raulie, of Green Cove Springs, Fla., finished second.

The Georgia State Two-Man championship went to Keith Allen, of Scott City, Mo., and Robbie Lashley, of Andersonville.

Next year’s event is scheduled for July 22, once again during the Outdoor Blast in Macon.
