Mark Willingham, of Powder Springs, won the latest Truck-Buck Shoot-Out and drove home in a new Chevy Silverado 4x4 pickup truck. Mark was presented his new truck by Jonathan Megel, of John Megel Chevrolet, the longtime Truck-Buck sponsor that makes the contest possible.

Simply for being a magazine subscriber, killing a nice buck and winning a pellet-rifle competition, GON will give you a brand-spanking-new Chevy Silverado 4x4 pickup truck. Someone’s going to win it, and if it’s you, you’ll be the 24th truck winner since GON began giving away trucks in our big-buck contest.

If you want to take part in this year’s Truck-Buck contest, the first step is to make sure you are a GON subscriber. Don’t be like the folks we hear from every year who unexpectedly kill giant bucks who couldn’t enter the contest because they let their GON subscription expire or simply bought the magazine at the convenience-store rack every month.

The grand-prize truck, provided again by longtime contest sponsor John Megel Chevrolet, will go to the winner of the Shoot-Out, a pellet-rifle competition among weekly winners (see page 42 for this year’s results). The second-place finisher in the Shoot-Out earns a 4-wheeler from Mountain Motorsports.

GON’s contest is divided into scoring periods that coincide with the weeks of deer season. Each week, the best buck entered from the Northern Zone and the best buck from the Southern Zone win prizes and earn a spot in the Shoot-Out. You just have to kill the highest-scoring buck during a week of the deer season in your hunting zone.

Hunters can also make the Shoot-Out through four wildcard divisions: Youth, Ladies, Public Land and Runner-Up. Two hunters from each category will qualify—the largest rack of the season in each category for both the Northern and Southern zones.

Entering a buck is simple. There are no check stations. Follow the instructions, and enter online at www.gon.com, or mail the entry form found on page 78.

If you’d like to participate in this year’s Truck-Buck contest, just be a GON subscriber and enter your buck by following the instructions and rules on pages 78 and 79. For more information, call us at (800) 438-4663.

Kids-Only Buck Contest

Youth 15 and under can win a dream hunt in the SEEDS Big-Buck Contest.

Youth deer hunters in Georgia have their very own weekly big-buck contest and Shoot-Out. The SEEDS Big-Buck Contest is for kids 15 and younger. The grand prize is a deer and hog hunt with Woods-N-Water outfitters in Johnson County.

SEEDS is the youth program of the GONetwork, a non-profit sportsmen’s organization founded by Georgia Outdoor News magazine publisher Steve Burch.

Entering the 2012 SEEDS Big-Buck Contest is simple. Be 15 years of age or younger, and enter your buck in GON’s Truck-Buck contest. All youth 15 and younger who enter Truck-Buck will automatically be entered in the SEEDS Big-Buck Contest. There is no separate entry process for the SEEDS contest—just follow and meet the Truck-Buck entry procedures.

The highest-scoring buck entered each week by a youth will earn the youngster a Realtree shirt and a spot in the SEEDS Shoot-Out. The best shot during the pellet-rifle competition, held each year at the Outdoor Blast, will earn the dream hunting trip with Woods-N-Water.
