Clarks Hill: Level: 7.7 feet below full pool. Temp: 68-72 degrees. Clarity: Savannah arm is stained. Little River super clear.
Bass: Excellent. Ronnie Garrison said it was easy to catch 15 keepers a day at the Georgia Bass Chapter Federation Top-Six, “and I don’t know how many short fish. I saw a 6-pounder on the bed. Everyone saw good fish on the beds. Most weren’t real hard on the beds. The Savannah arm has some stained water. Most of the better fish were caught on crankbaits up the river. Top stringers were a 20-pounder and 19-pounder the first day. Everybody was excited about how many fish were caught.”
Linesides: Good. Guide William Sasser reports, “The fish will be biting in front of the dam at night on bluebacks. Pulling freelines on points during the day will catch fish. Stripers will follow water flow up the creeks in the lake. Freelines fished in the backs of coves will work.”
Crappie: Good. William reports, “The fish will be spawning this month. Pull jigs in the backs of coves slowly. Follow the bank, and stay out casting distance so you can reach the bank with a cork and jig while you’re pulling jigs. Brushpiles in 8 to 20 feet of water also will hold fish.”
Shellcrackers: William reports, “The bream will bed great this month with the warm water temperatures.”
