Have you ever put your mouth on the best ribs in the world? Attend GON’s Outdoor Blast, and you may have a chance.
The competition cook team Bubba Grills, of Haddock, does indeed have the best-tasting ribs in the world. The team just returned from the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, where they captured first place in the ribs category.
Bubba Grills is made up of husband-and-wife Lonnie and Shannon Smith, Lee Smith, Joe Havard, Ethan Roberson and Rick Godfrey.
Lonnie Smith with Bubba Grills has been a huge supporter of Georgia Outdoor News and its efforts with the Outdoor Blast in Macon. In 2007 and 2008, he helped host a backyard cook-off at the Blast. The last two years, Lonnie has helped coordinate a cook-off with the Georgia Barbecue Association at the Blast. This year Lonnie will be supplying all the barbecue for sale at the Blast. He’ll also be doing cooking seminars, one of which will explain how to make world-class ribs.
When Lonnie is not selling his custom-made grills, or making those world-famous ribs, he enjoys hybrid fishing on Lake Oconee, saltwater fishing and deer hunting.
