It’s simple... it’s about the kids. This is why we’ve made the SEEDS Big-Buck Contest better than ever. We’re rolling the youth-only contest into GON’s Truck-Buck contest, the longest running, largest ever and most popular deer contest in the state. This year’s grand-prize SEEDS winner is going deer and hog hunting in Johnson County with Woods-N-Water. See below for more details on that exciting hunt.
Being a part of the 2009 SEEDS Big-Buck Contest is simple. Be 17 years of age or younger, and kill the best youth deer in a week. There’s 17 weeks of deer season, so we’ll have 17 weekly winners hoping to win a dream hunting trip with Woods-N-Water.
See below for more details on entering the 2009 SEEDS Big-Buck Contest.
Henry County Fund-raiser: The Henry County Committee will host its sixth annual fund-raiser at the Merle Manders Conference Center on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009.
This fund-raising event will generate funds to be used on many worthwhile projects in the Henry County area. Money from previous banquets have been used to fund the following projects: kids’ duck-box building days, Archery in the Schools programs, kids’ fishing days, Cubihatcha Outdoor Education field trips, 4-H shooting teams and kids’ dove, deer, quail and duck hunts.
For pricing and contact information, see below.
Woods-N-Water Sponsors SEEDS Big-Buck Contest
Woods-N-Water, based out of Wrightsville, will pony up the grand prize in this year’s SEEDS Big-Buck Contest. President Blaine Burley has donated a three-day deer and hog hunt in November 2010 for the grand-prize winner in this year’s youth deer contest.
Woods-N-Water has more than 1,500 acres of private, trophy-managed property in Johnson County. The hunt will take place during the rut, giving our winning youngster the best chance at taking home a set of mounting antlers. In addition, Blaine has the hogs, and he’ll take all the help he can get cleaning a few out.
The trip will include meals and lodging for the winning youth and their parent. During hunts, a pond stocked full of fish outside the lodge will make sure there’s never a dull moment while our winning youth enjoys the adventure of a lifetime.
To book a hunting or fishing trip with Woods-N-Water, call Blaine at (888) MAX-GAME. Check him out online at <www.woodsnwaterinc.com>.
Enter the SEEDS Big-Buck Contest
1. The SEEDS Big-Buck Contest is open to kids 17 years of age and younger.
2. Kids must be GON subscribers, or dependents of GON subscribers, before killing a buck.
3. Kill an antlered buck, and take plenty of photos. Don’t forget to smile!
4. The easiest way to enter the buck is by going to <www.gon.com>. However, you can also fill out the Truck-Buck application in GON and mail it in with photos. Just make sure GON receives the application within seven business days of when the buck was taken.
5. Don’t mount the deer! Racks attached to skull plates will need to be brought to one of GON’s scoring days. Those scoring dates will take place in early spring 2010. Keep reading GON for when those scoring events will be.
6. The highest-scoring youth buck in a week will become eligible to win the dream hunt with Woods-N-Water. With 17 weeks of deer season, we’ll have 17 SEEDS winners.
7. At the 2010 Outdoor Blast in Macon we’ll figure out which of our 17 weekly winners will win the exciting hunt with Woods-N-Water in November 2010.
