This August GON will host the 20th annual Truck-Buck Shoot-Out. If you’ve never seen a nail-biting Shoot-Out, come see this year’s event in Macon. It’ll be one for the record books. Last year, Brett Cravey, 17, won the truck. Jonathan Megel presents him the keys.

This August GON will host its 20th Truck-Buck Shoot-Out. It’ll be a time to celebrate, a time to reflect and a time to look forward. We invite you to be there. Join us for the Shoot-Out Aug. 8-9 at the Macon Centreplex, where we’ll make history.

The Shoot-Out will be the final event at GON’s 2009 Outdoor Blast. This show caters to hunters and fishermen and gives them what they want to see when they come to a show — hunting and fishing stuff.

The Blast will be at the Macon Centreplex Aug. 7-9. There will be plenty of activities to keep folks busy.

Cook-competition teams will compete in the Georgia Barbecue Association’s “BBQ Blast.” An amateur competition will take place, too. For more information, turn to page 53.

If you like archery competition, bring your bow and participate in the Georgia Bowhunter Classic, a 3-D contest put on by the guys who produce the “Southern Woods n’ Waters” TV show.

Kids are again an emphasis, and there will be lots for them to do. Last year kids shot bows and Airsoft guns and played with shooting, fishing and racing simulators. There was also a giant inflatable slide.

See the “Wall of Fame,” where more than 40 deer racks from the Truck-Buck Contest will be on display.

Come watch some of the state’s best duck callers compete in the 2009 Georgia State Duck Calling Contest. This sanctioned event will send the winner to the World Duck Calling Championships in Stuttgart, Ark. To compete, the cost is $40. There will also be a Georgia State Meat Calling Contest. Entry fee is $25. For information, contact Scott Hodges at (478) 956-5537 or Daryl Kirby at GON at (800) 438-4663.

To enter the Outdoor Blast, adult tickets are $5. Kids younger than 12 can have a blast for free.

The Macon Centreplex is located at I-16 and Coliseum Drive. For information about the Blast, call GON at (800) 438-4663.
