Severe weather forced anglers off Lake Tobesofkee on the scheduled tournament day of March 28, so the state’s best young tournament anglers returned the next day to vie for bragging rights and state-championship honors in the 2009 Georgia Bass Chapter Federation (GBCF) Youth Top-6 Tournament.

Youth anglers were paired with GBCF members who provided boats for the event, which took place on Lake Tobesofkee, a 1,800-acre reservoir in Bibb County.

Youngsters competed in two ages groups, 15-18 and 11-14 years old, for individual and team honors.

Zack Mayo and Alex Cook qualified to represent Georgia at the 2009 National Guard Junior World Championship tournament, which takes place July 29 – Aug. 1 at the Allegheny River near Kittanning, Penn. The tournament will be held during the same week as the $2 Million Forrest Wood Cup.
